About the NCSSM Food Drive
Our Mission
To unite the NCSSM community in addressing food insecurity while setting a world record for the largest student-led food drive, demonstrating that young people can create meaningful change through collective action.
Why This Matters
In our county, 1 in 7 people face food insecurity, including over 20,000 children. The pandemic worsened this situation, with local food banks reporting a 35% increase in demand.
As a school with resources, community connections, and motivated students, we believe we have a responsibility to address this critical need.
By attempting to break the world record, we're not just collecting food—we're raising awareness about hunger in our community and inspiring other schools to take action.

Our Goals
The World Record
The current world record for a student-led food drive stands at 146,832 pounds, set by Eisenhower High School in 2019.
Our goal is to collect over 150,000 pounds of food during our year-long campaign, culminating in April 2026.
Beyond the Record
- Create sustainable partnerships with local businesses and organizations
- Establish a model for other schools to replicate
- Educate our community about food insecurity
- Provide at least 125,000 meals to those in need
